11 Most Usual Dental Implants Questions

When you miss a tooth, you know the damage caused by the lack of teeth and how it affects all your chewing abilities. We receive thousands of emails filled with questions. The questions below are the most frequent.

Please feel free to contact us at any time or complete the form on your right if you have any more inquiries.

Does dental implant surgery hurt?

Discomfort is not expected as we use local anesthesia to address pain caused by the drilling of your jawbone when the dental implant is inserted. You will be prescribed analgesics; however, if you use more complex substances such as codeine, please bring it from home, as in Mexico, we can not prescribe specific components.

Can I be sedated during the dental implant procedure?

We can use IV sedation (Twilight) for your dental implant surgery. We use the services of an anesthesiologist.

You must be fasting for at least eight hours before the surgery for the sedation process. You must let your dental planner know if you want sedation during surgery. The sedation has an extra cost of 500 US.

Why can’t I have the crown or the bridge (All On 4) load on the same surgery when you place the implants

Because an osseointegration process must be completed, the osseointegration is your body's natural response when a tooth implant is inserted into the jawbone or maxilla.

The titanium screw will fuse to the bone, creating a solid grip, and those implants act as posts or roots of a tooth. So that procedure must be completed to let the fusion happen.

You can have a temporary overdenture or a temporary crown, but the final prosthetic piece comes four to six months after the surgical placement. After the osseointegration, you can place a dental bridge with implants or a crown.

What dental implant brands do you use?

The very same your home dentist uses. We only use brands such as NeoDent, Nobel Biocare, Zimmer, Bio Horizons, 3i, Intra-Lock, etc.

If I can not return for the second trip (to load the crown or bridge over those tooth implants), can I have it done back home in the U.S.?

Of course, we will provide you with the serial number if you want to do the second part of the All On Four or the implanted crown back in the United States.

Any dental implant dentist in the U.S. can rehabilitate what we set here.

How to know how many dental implants I need?

You have several options to know:

a) X-rays or CT/Scan

Go to an X-Rays facility and get a 3d CT/Scan or a Panoramic X-Ray, scan it, and send it to us. (Most accurate quote we can provide)
b) Quote comparison

Go to a dentist back home and get his quote for a full mouth rehabilitation and send us the quote so we can send you a cost comparison.

c) Pictures

This is the least accurate quote we can provide. But many patients send pictures of their teeth anyway and can give us a general idea of what you need, knowing that when we check you in the clinic, we can find bone problems, infections, etc. That’s why x-rays are much better.

These three ways allow us to know how many tooth implants you need or what type of procedure is adequate for you.

Is it safe to have my dental implants in Mexico?

Yes, and here are some of the reasons we have to be proud of our quality of service:

  2. We also use the same protocol as any other dental implant dentist in the United States.
  3. We are the only clinic in the area with a CT/Scan; we use surgical guides on our surgical implant placement.
  4. We own the laboratory. No other dental clinic in the area has the technology we own.

We have CAD/CAM, milling machines, ovens, laser scanners, etc. Here is where we create the denture implants and any prosthetic work. We also craft most of the dental pieces for the rest of the dental clinics in the Cancun area.

You can have a regular vacation in Cancun. There are many activities in Cancun that you can enjoy. This is what dental holidays are all about!

How much the dental implants cost in your clinic?

There are no hidden costs. Check our dental services price list, and you will be charged precisely what you need.

Can dental implants fail?

Yes, there can be dental implants problems, including the loss of the implant., there is a 5% chance that it could. When a dental implant fails, we mean that the bone did not fuse properly to the titanium screw surgically inserted.

It can fail because maybe the patient did not have the proper hygiene, or the patient had an infection, or the patient is a smoker, etc. In patients who smoke, the chance of losing an implant increases significantly, with almost a 50% chance of losing it. You need to stop smoking before having your dental implants surgically inserted.
